I'm not going to start this one the way that I normally start. Normally I start with like a. So I said and give you kind of the topic of what we're talking about. But the love affair that I'm about to address with you needs a little bit more respect than that. So I'm going to tell you when I fell in love with banana pudding. I know, I know that you weren't expecting that. That's what I was gonna say. I know most of you think, Well, why wasn't he just now talking about his wife cuz y'all know that I'm married. Mind, your business. I love banana pudding. Here's what's happening. So I fell in love with banana pudding. Man. I had to be six, seven years old. Easy. It's the first dessert that I could say, meaning you gonna be together for a while, you know? Because my grandma green. made this banana pudding. And she made it from scratch. Not like full scratch. Like some of y'all be doing it. No, no, no, she created the pudding herself. Right? It was a double double boil. Like a it was a custard. You know, saying like, it was hearty and dense. There was bananas like actual bananas cut up in that boy. Like it was layered with cool whip. It was it was it was that deal. You hear me? And like somehow the vanilla wafers were still crunchy. Yeah, I'm saying like, I don't know if it was the the density and where she put the the cookies that they were able to stay. They were still you still got a crunch to it. Oh, now sadly, my grandma died some years ago. Grandma green when I was when I was much younger. But this is not a sad moment because her legacy lives on. And this banana pudding, you see, and not in the one that she's made but my love affair with it. Because every time I eat it, I think of her. This is how that legacy lives on let's let's move it along here so she passes away. And you know, one of the things that I thought I would never eat again was banana pudding. Because it was a thing that we did together. You know how some people they eat the bowl like they get the bowl after the cake. Why did that two pound cake but that's a whole nother conversation we'll talk about my thing with pound cake later. This is about banana pudding. And when I got that bow about like being able to SAP up that pudding with my with the leftover vanilla wafer crumbs because like she didn't put the crumbs in there it was just the whole bits you know I'm saying so if they have broke up a bit, we were discarding those because presentation was important right? This is back in the old days when people cared about how they cooked you know I'm saying not when you was putting bland stuff on social media thinking that you that you somehow like a cook now and like oh, I'll take care of my man this this is stuff that I've seen like your chicken is white by like you boiled it and you made like instant macaroni and don't this is back when like grandma green was from the south. You know, I'm saying she migrated up here. And so like they they took the time with stuff. And this is why I became a kind of sore of banana pudding because like everybody don't know what they doing when they make it. Let's keep it a buck 50 with you. Sometimes like in the thing that that annoys me see, I was talking to my producer cat when I was coming up with this idea. And one of the things that I shared with her that annoys me to no end is single serving banana puns. All they're so annoying. Single serving, you know what I'm talking about? They put it in a little mason jar and put it on top and they've layered it. Oh my god like no, no, that's not like a serving of banana pudding when you after the banana pudding has set because you don't eat it right after they put it together. You've got to put it in a frigerator so everything sets together. And then when you get the scope like it's it is layered but it's like I don't know my mouth is watering. like a like a ball of goodness that comes onto your plate and it like has melded together. And now the vanilla from the vanilla wafer and the crumbs has met the the Cool Whip in the pudding and they've intertwined together and you just don't get that if you give me a single serving and you've layered them just so and really what you did was put more whipped cream and then anything and that makes me upset. I'm like really upset right now. Because you gave me a single server into that. And here's where I messed up. This is where I messed up. The reason that I have such a problem with the single server Cuz I got a single serving at a restaurant. And that was my fault. That's where I messed up. Banana pudding is not something that you eat at a restaurant. It's just not. You got to find your auntie, your cousin them who make it good. Those are the ones that you go to, and you only got one that you go to. Right? Like, there are several people who make it well, I'm blessed. My wife does a really good job. and my aunite does a really good job. Y'all ain't blessed like me. I'm convinced there's only one if you don't have one, you know, I'm saying like, you might not know nobody who actually make banana pudding. Well, like, it is completely possible that you think that you have good, good banana pudding, and it's terrible. Like somebody is using instant pudding. And nobody turned on a stove. It was all cold from frustration. But anyway, they sat around restaurant, and I was actually out with my, the place that I worked now, he was my direct supervisor. And I took a bite of the banana pudding. And I was like, I'm not gonna finish this, because you're not going to tarnish the legacy. Right? And I say this, and he's like, What are you? What are you talking about? Is it that bad? And I'm like, Yes, it's, it's terrible. And I don't know why I did this to myself. And so he takes a bite, and he's like, Oh, this is Okay, stop talking to me. Now, I don't trust your decision making skills. And I'm saying I'm supposed to work with you and for you on these projects. And like, this is what you count is acceptable for banana pudding. No, sir. We have problems. But it's okay. It's okay. He turned out to be a nice guy. You know, I'm saying like, I gave him a second chance. It was it was it was all good. And then my wife made me a banana pudding. So you would have to hear the story of me and my wife like getting together. The way she caught me Is she made meatloaf and mashed potatoes from scratch? Not instant. I'm saying like she took the time. peeled, some potatoes, boiled them joints, mash them up herself. There was some cream and butter and seasoning involved. There was still chunks of potato in it. The meatloaf. She got in there with her hands, packed it herself. There was some egg back when we was eating red meat. Like there was a the whole thing. And like, even finished it off with a gravy that she made. Listen. When when she did that, for me, I was like, You know what? I am going to marry this woman. This is the day that I have found my wife. And you know, it was that simple. Yeah, me like it was that simple. But when I realized that I was definitely going to do my best to impregnate her is when she made the banana pudding. I was sure she was going to be my wife. But after that banana pudding, she's having my children. This is this is going to happen. Because boy oh boy, if it didn't remind me of my grandmother's, she was at the stove. Making pudding word by she did the stove thing. And they're like, layer two just so and would not let me scoop in early say it. No, you have to wait till it all settles. Who I could have impregnated her right in, just right in right there where she stood. I could have impregnated her. It was it was the thing I did kiss her. But if we didn't go much farther than that, because I wanted her to finish what she was doing because I still wanted to eat. But this is what happened. This is my love affair. You don't I'm saying like banana pudding is my favorite dessert. But here's the thing. Just because I'm telling you that it's my favorite dessert does not mean that you should show up and try to get me to eat your banana pudding. Because then I'm gonna hurt your feelings. You don't want to smoke. It is my favorite dessert. I have the people that I go to to get it from them. Leave your banana pudding at home. There is my wife's banana pudding. And there is my it Robin's banana pudding. That is it. That is where that train stops. You show up with somebody else's, but on a plane talking about, oh, you really go like this Dylan. I know No, I'm n t. I'm not even gonna give it a chance. We're not even having t is conversation. I'm telling y u now, so that if you approach m, you know that your feelings i about to get hurt. And that's a l I have to say about that. I l ve you banana pudding. I'm o t.
