So I said, I have never seen in scripture where Jesus said, and I was exhausted. We are talking about Jesus. Right? Where is this coming from? And I feel like I've been asking myself that question every time we start a podcast, because I feel like, I would be wondering that question. If I was listening to somebody like me, who started off with these random quotes, like, do what are you talking about? Where did that come from? I'm glad you asked. Maybe you didn't ask. But if you're listening, I'm gonna tell you. So anyway, I was having this conversation with my producer. And she brings up the idea of grind culture. And grind culture is antithetical to Scripture. And we just don't say it straight like that. There's no part of your faith that tells you that you should grind yourself to death, like that grinding is the way to the kingdom grinding is how you get to the top, like there's nothing in scripture that says that. Not at all. There was never a point where in Scripture, Jesus said, and I was exhausted. Jesus did say, and he went out from among them. That's what the scripture says. And he went out from among them. This usually happened after he performed some great miracle. Something major that he did he, after he was on the Sermon on the Mountain, like after he fed the 5000, after he fed the 4000, when major things happen, the next thing you hear from Jesus, and he went out from among them, what do you think he was doing when he went out from among them? Did you think that he went and started a side business because what he was doing with the with the mega ministry wasn't enough. Do you think that that's what was happening there? Do you think that he needed to fill his time with another job? Because he felt like he wasn't making enough money? This? Did he? Did he fill his time with another church? Did he go and start another church? While he was out from among them, that he put them to the side to 12? The ones that that was walking with him that he put them to the side and then be like, Yeah, I'm gonna go start this church on the other side of town, because like we're saving enough souls. Is that Is that what happened? Do you really believe that that's what happened? I'm gonna tell you for free. It ain't in Scripture. So it didn't happen. Period. He means started another ministry. That's not what happened. He didn't feel his time. Until there was no room for him to sleep. He went out from among them to wait for it. Rest. Yeah, I know. I know. I know. No. Just breathe for a second. How dare I say that you need to get some rest. But like, you legit. Need to take a nap somewhere. In the Old Testament, I know y'all don't read the Bible is cool. I'm a bring them for where you can feel it. Yeah, yeah, I'm talking to you. I know that you read your Bible. It's okay, man. Like, I'm not beating you up about it. I just know that for a fact. And that's okay. You know, you wouldn't read it. It's fine. In the Old Testament. Jesus talking to one of his prophets. I'm not even they'll tell you which Prophet it is. Because I don't want you to feel like you're supposed to know it. And you didn't know it. He never seen it like that. That's fine. That's, you know, it's cool. It's cool. So he's talking to one of his prophets, or his prophet was talking to him. And the Prophet says, You know what, you can just kill me now. I just want to die. Just forget about it. He had just done something really amazing in Scripture, right. He had conquered these, these other like Warlocks or whatever, and brought praise to the name of God. And the person that he beat said that he was going to have said that they were going to kill him. And so he's like, You know what, I just want to die. Just Just let me die. And you know what God told him. It's right there in Scripture, you know, God tells him, Amen. Go get something to eat and take a nap. And we'll talk later. That's, that's what Scripture says. It. It literally says, I know. Go get something to eat. Take a nap. And we'll talk later. I wonder how many things could be fixed in your life? If you got a snack and took a nap? How much stress would leave you? If you just got a snack? took a nap. Jesus actually suggests the Scripture actually suggests that rest is holy who another word, my God, Dylan and what are you doing? You can't be calling things holy. What is holy, Listen, man, sacred. It's something that you should be doing. I know that you don't like to be told what to do. I get it. I really do, I really do. You don't want people to be able to tell you what to do. You don't want anybody to tell you what to do. But you, I get it. I understand. We live in a culture where you are your own god, I get it. But how's that working out for you? When you become your own god, you have no one to depend on. Hence, grind culture. Because you have to provide for you, you are your God. And so when you're your God, saying things are holy, and that you should be doing them, and they go against your sensibilities, Perish the thought. But it is one of the things that God established at the beginning, before the fall, before there was sin in the world. God said on the seventh day, he rested. God, the Creator of the universe, rested, stopped doing work and rested, which means that one is holy, because God was doing it and two, it was productive. So rest is productive to. So you mean to tell me that you could actually get something done after you've rested? Or that you're doing something? While you're resting? You know, you're resting? I know, I know, I know, this is against everything that you've been told, especially in this American society where you were only just by your productivity, but resting is holy. And you don't need to do everything. You aren't God. I know. I know that you're hearing this. And you're like, Well, no, I'm saying, I got God in me. Yeah, true. God in you, Holy Spirit. You not be God, though. So if God need rest, you definitely need rest. Because you ain't God. So it's dangerous, is dangerous to believe that the work of your hand is the only thing that can take care of you and your family. That dangerous, it's dangerous to believe that it is your productivity that counts as your worth? Why is that dangerous to believe? Because what happens when you stop being productive? Because we all do, we all stop being productive every day. In fact, you stop being, quote unquote, productive, and you go to sleep. At some point, you have to sleep. And so if you are asleep, and not being productive, but your entire identity is tied up and what you produce, who are you when you're asleep? Who are you when you need to rest? Who are you? When you take a vacation. You see, you see how like crazy this logic can be where I need to grind for every dollar. If you're grinding for every dollar, if you're trading all of your time for resources, we have a fundamental issue. I don't know what the issue is for you. It may be that there are things that you don't actually need, that you are chasing status symbols that you don't actually need, that you're chasing. Things that you want to make sure that other people know that you got it all together. When you're missing the most important part, right? Spending time with family, establishing and maintaining relationships. These are all very, very important things. These are Dare I say holy? Yeah, no, this was a tough one. Grind culture is not biblical. Grind culture is antithetical to Scripture. Grind culture may be sinful sin, and you trippin. You didn't call it things holy, told us that we sent in. Who are you today? Oh, Pastor, still trying to figure it out. And also a podcast host that just got done saying everything that he needed to say. So I'm out
